XC III Hydrocyclone
The XC III hydrocyclone performs wet classification in mineral grinding circuits. It accepts slurry from a mill and separates particles by size and density using centrifugal action. Coarse particles exit through the underflow for regrind; fine particles report to the overflow for downstream processing.
Technical parameters
A range of model sizes accommodates different volumetric capacities and target cut points. This allows the engineer to match the unit to the specific duty requirements of a grinding circuit without oversizing or undersizing the equipment.
The table lists ten XC III models identifiable by code, e.g. XCIII75. Each row presents the processing capacity, classification size, overflow and underflow port diameters, and inlet pressure range. Larger models deliver higher throughput to coarser cuts; smaller models suit finer separations at lower capacities. Standard-model catalogue figures. Actual capacity, power draw and wear life shift with ore properties, feed gradation and circuit conditions. Use them to shortlist, then confirm the duty by testwork, flowsheet calculation and a written confirmation from the manufacturer.
What decides the selection
Before fixing a model, define the slurry feed rate, particle size distribution, and desired overflow cut size. Confirm the available inlet pressure and underflow density target. Matching a unit involves balancing capacity with geometry to achieve the cut point under operating conditions. A test program may be necessary to finalise the configuration for a specific ore type.
