Conveying Equipment

Screw Conveyor

A screw conveyor moves bulk material along a trough with a rotating helical blade. It handles horizontal or inclined paths inside mineral processing plants, transferring product between crushing, grinding, classification and dewatering circuits.

Technical parameters

The enclosed casing contains dust and shields material from contamination. For fine, abrasive or hot feeds, this design offers an advantage over open belt conveyors. It works alongside bucket elevators for vertical lifts and belt conveyors for long-distance runs.

The table lists models by screw diameter and reports conveying capacities for three reference materials: magnesium powder, cement and soda ash. Inlet and outlet dimensions are given for layout planning. A larger diameter generally indicates higher volumetric throughput. Material bulk density and flowability influence the achievable rate, so use the reference capacities for relative sizing only.

Standard-model catalogue figures. Actual capacity, power draw and wear life shift with ore properties, feed gradation and circuit conditions. Use them to shortlist, then confirm the duty by testwork, flowsheet calculation and a written confirmation from the manufacturer.

What decides the selection

Before selecting a model, confirm the material’s bulk density, particle size distribution, abrasiveness, moisture content and temperature. Define the required conveying capacity, horizontal and vertical distances, and any incline angle. Note the available inlet and outlet positions. Decide whether the application demands dust-tight operation or special trough liners for wear protection.
