Wet Overflow Ball Mill

The wet overflow ball mill grinds crushed ore to a fine slurry for flotation, leaching or magnetic separation. Ore is reduced by a tumbling charge of steel balls and exits via overflow.

Technical parameters

These mills are typically placed after a primary grinding stage or used for regrinding in closed circuits with cyclones. They produce a finer product than grate discharge mills but accept a lower throughput per unit of installed power.

The model table covers a wide span of drum sizes and motor powers. Drum diameter and length set the effective volume and maximum ball charge, which together govern the grinding intensity and the processing rate. Overall dimensions and weight inform plant layout and foundation design. Select the model whose volume and power envelop match your target throughput and feed characteristics.

Standard-model catalogue figures. Actual capacity, power draw and wear life shift with ore properties, feed gradation and circuit conditions. Use them to shortlist, then confirm the duty by testwork, flowsheet calculation and a written confirmation from the manufacturer.

What decides the selection

Before specifying a model, define the Bond work index of your ore, the required feed and product particle sizes, and the target throughput under steady-state conditions. Also confirm the number of grinding stages, the classification efficiency, and the available motor voltage and foundation space. These inputs narrow the range to a few candidate models.
