Steel Raw Material Silo
The steel raw material silo receives coarse ore from the primary crusher or direct truck dumping and holds it before the grinding circuit. It decouples mining operations from the processing plant, smoothing out delivery fluctuations and ensuring a steady feed supply downstream.
Technical parameters
Unlike day bins or surge hoppers, these silos are designed for long-term storage of raw, uncrushed material with robust discharge systems to handle large particle sizes and variable moisture.
The parameter table covers a range of standard models differentiated by overall dimensions, hopper geometry, storage volume, discharge opening, and discharge height. These variables determine the silo’s footprint, storage capacity, and compatibility with downstream feeders or conveyors. Selection must account for material bulk density, repose angle, and required throughput.

Standard-model catalogue figures. Actual capacity, power draw and wear life shift with ore properties, feed gradation and circuit conditions. Use them to shortlist, then confirm the duty by testwork, flowsheet calculation and a written confirmation from the manufacturer.
What decides the selection
Before choosing a specific model, the buyer must define the required live capacity, the particle size distribution of the feed, the intended discharge method (gravity or assisted), and the physical constraints of the installation site. Material characteristics such as moisture content and abrasiveness influence liner selection and discharge design to prevent hang-ups.
