Horizontal Dryer

The horizontal dryer is a direct-heat rotary unit that reduces moisture content of filter cake or granular solids after dewatering. It sits downstream of filtration equipment and upstream of pelletising circuits where a uniform low-moisture feed is required.

Technical parameters

In a mineral processing plant it provides controlled thermal drying at high continuous throughput. The machine handles a wide range of bulk ores and industrial minerals without damaging particle integrity.

The model table lists units by shell diameter and length, for example Φ 1.5 × 12. Larger diameters increase the heat transfer area and vapour removal capacity; longer drums extend residence time for harder-to-dry materials. Select the model whose combination of inclination, rotational speed and motor power matches the target moisture drop for your specific ore feed.

Standard-model catalogue figures. Actual capacity, power draw and wear life shift with ore properties, feed gradation and circuit conditions. Use them to shortlist, then confirm the duty by testwork, flowsheet calculation and a written confirmation from the manufacturer.

What decides the selection

Before fixing a dryer model, define the feed moisture entering from the upstream filter, the target discharge moisture for downstream pelletising, and the particle size distribution. Confirm the heat source available (flue gas, steam or electric) and the required inclination and speed to achieve the necessary residence time without overheating the material.
