Gyratory Crusher

The gyratory crusher reduces run-of-mine ore to a transportable size suitable for secondary crushing or SAG milling. It serves large hard-rock mines where a jaw crusher would struggle with throughput or feed size.

Technical parameters

In the circuit, the machine sits directly under the primary surge bin. It accepts full truck loads without pre-screening. Its continuous crushing motion produces a coarser but uniform discharge, which then feeds screens or cone crushers.

The model table lists key dimensions and power ratings. Bottom diameter and feed port size define the machine's capacity envelope. As these increase, motor power, discharge opening range, and assembly weight scale accordingly. Selecting a model means matching the feed opening to the largest rock size in the blast and the power to the required throughput.

Standard-model catalogue figures. Actual capacity, power draw and wear life shift with ore properties, feed gradation and circuit conditions. Use them to shortlist, then confirm the duty by testwork, flowsheet calculation and a written confirmation from the manufacturer.

What decides the selection

Before specifying a model, confirm the characteristics of the orebody: unconfined compressive strength, abrasion index, moisture content, and the top size expected from the mine. The required throughput and desired product P80 must be defined. A site review of the dump pocket and downstream circuit layout is essential to verify clearance for the crusher and its discharge.
